Last month, the Guggenheim held an event showcasing two exhibitions from the Collection In Focus series: “Piet Mondrian, Ever Further” and “Beatriz Milhazes: Rigor and Beauty.” Both exhibitions were curated from the museum’s permanent collection.
“Piet Mondrian, Ever Further” consists of paintings and drawings that showcase the evolution of the artist’s signature style. He was known for making distinctive contributions to abstract art throughout his career. The exhibition was curated by Mariet Westermann and is the first in the Collection In Focus series. The exhibit will be on display until April 20, 2025.
“Beatriz Milhazes: Rigor and Beauty” features fifteen paintings and works on paper from the global contemporary artist from Brazil. Her work spans four decades (from the 1980’s to present day). Milhazes’ art engages with her heritage and identity through abstraction and a technique called “monotransfer,” which was inspired by the monotype printing press. The collection was organized by Geaninne Gutierrez-Guimaraes and is on display until September 7, 2025.
